About the Role We're looking for a customer-focused
Universal Banker II to join our team. This position plays a key role in providing excellent service, supporting branch operations, and ensuring compliance. You'll handle both personal and business accounts, process complex transactions, and serve as a trusted resource for customers. You'll also mentor newer Universal Bankers, contribute to business development, and promote bank products and services that meet customer needs.
What You'll Do - Open and maintain consumer, business, and trust accounts (including CDs and IRAs)
- Assist customers with Online Banking, Bill Pay, debit cards, and mobile banking
- Process wire transfers and ensure compliance with documentation requirements
- Support consumer loan applications and basic lending functions
- Balance ATMs, manage night drop and safe deposit box procedures
- Respond to customer inquiries in person, by phone, and through call queues
- Promote bank products and services through needs-based conversations
- Perform branch opening/closing and maintain security and compliance standards
- Provide mentoring and support to Universal Banker I team members
- Conduct quality control reviews of new account activity for accuracy
- Provide teller support as needed
What We're Looking For - High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
- 5 years of retail banking experience (required)
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience within a branch setting
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic banking systems
Ability to pass a background check - Knowledge of banking regulations, products, and services

Schedule: Monday-Friday, some Saturdays 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Compensation: $50,000.00 per year

Herring Bank Herring Bank was founded in 1899, by Colonel C.T. Herring. Colonel Herring lived in Vernon, TX and saw a need for a bank. The cattleman would drive their cattle from Oklahoma through Vernon to Fort Worth to sell their cattle. When the cattleman sold their cattle and they went back to Oklahoma they were loaded with cash. Oklahoma was know as the badlands for a good reason, when the cattleman crossed in to Oklahoma they could lose their life and it was a sure bet that they would lose their money. With a bank in Vernon, TX, Herring Bank, they could deposit their funds and when they crossed into Oklahoma, the badlands, they would not lose their money, so the thieves had no reason to rob them
