Senior Data Center Security Specialist

Location: Hybrid – In Office Tues–Thurs | Remote Mon & Fri

Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Position Summary

The Senior Data Center Security Specialist will lead security planning and execution across multiple physical sites, including corporate offices and data center campuses. This role is responsible for designing and enforcing consistent standards in perimeter defense , monitoring and surveillance , and site risk assessments , while closely collaborating with internal cybersecurity stakeholders to maintain a unified security strategy.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in multi-site or mission-critical environments and strong knowledge of both physical infrastructure security and compliance-driven practices.

Key Responsibilities

Security Design & Site Strategy

  • Oversee the physical security design of new and existing data center sites and campuses.
  • Develop and maintain Basis of Design (BoD) documentation to drive site security architecture.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and threat modeling to address vulnerabilities.

Perimeter Defense & Access Control

  • Design and manage robust perimeter security measures, including fencing, barriers, and access control systems.
  • Ensure consistent access governance policies and practices across all sites.

Monitoring & Surveillance Operations

  • Manage the deployment and maintenance of surveillance systems (CCTV, intrusion detection, etc.).
  • Leverage platforms such as Genetec (or similar) to ensure visibility across facilities.
  • Review incident logs and footage to identify potential threats and establish remediation protocols.

Security Oversight & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work directly with on-site staff, security vendors, and facilities teams to ensure alignment on security standards.
  • Coordinate security practices across multiple physical locations (data centers, campuses, offices).
  • Maintain documentation and records required for compliance and audits.

Cybersecurity Collaboration

  • Partner with cybersecurity and IT leadership to ensure physical-cyber security integration .
  • Support audits and compliance programs such as SOC 2, HIPAA, NIST, PCI-DSS .

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data center, enterprise, or high-security environments
  • Proven success managing physical security operations and infrastructure
  • Experience with access control , CCTV , and video surveillance systems
  • Understanding of SOC operations and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in high-accountability settings

Preferred

  • Experience with Genetec or similar VMS solutions
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
  • Background in government, defense, or critical infrastructure security
