Job Description

A K-12 school in Hamden, CT, is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker for the 2025-2026 academic year. This contract position offers an opportunity to support students, families, and staff within a dynamic educational environment, ensuring students social, emotional, and behavioral needs are addressed to promote academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to K-12 students to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop intervention plans and support strategies.
• Conduct assessments to identify students needs and connect them with appropriate community resources.
• Respond to crisis situations, offering immediate support and referrals as necessary.
• Facilitate communication between school, families, and external agencies.
• Maintain detailed case records and ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and legal requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
• Valid state licensure or certification as a School Social Worker.
• Experience working with K-12 student populations, preferably in school settings.
• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and family dynamics.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
