Job Overview Certified Substance Abuse Counselor at Interfaith Community Services. Interfaith Community Services is a nonprofit social services agency that provides essential resources and services to individuals and families in need. Founded in 1979, the agency works to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by helping people help themselves. Location: Escondido, CA. Hours: Tuesday–Saturday 2:00–10:30 pm. Full‑time. Responsibilities Maintain a caseload as prescribed by supervisor. Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all clients. Keep program areas free of drug, alcohol, and violence. Inform clients of policies and ensure compliance. Conduct screening, admission, treatment planning, 1:1 and group classes. Evaluate client needs and recommend appropriate internal and external resources; advocate for clients. Enter activities and client demographics into databases and daily facility logs. Collect and submit documentation accurately and timely. Respond to client concerns promptly and provide information through discussions and sessions. Perform searches and remove items not permitted on property. Answer incoming calls, provide information, and log shift transitions. Adhere to confidentiality per County, State, and federal regulations. Collaborate with agency staff to maintain community cohesiveness. Provide assistance and notify agencies/organizations in emergencies. Ensure program meets standards for inspections. Report problems to staff and supervisor. Coordinate wellness checks, fire drills, and other safety checks. Participate in staff meetings and trainings. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Certified by CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE; maintain certification without interruption. Credentialed by San Diego County’s Continuum of Care within the last 3 years or pass credentialing process. At least 2 years of relevant experience (required). Experience working with individuals with alcohol, drug, mental illness, or homelessness (required). Skillsets / Additional Requirements Establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients. Anticipate needs, prioritize, solve problems. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Work in an office setting. Ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend, kneel; dexterity required for hands, arms, legs. Lift up to 30 lbs occasionally. Possible adverse conditions including hostile people. Low to moderate exposure to contagious diseases and unpleasant fumes/odors. Occasional safe operation of vehicles and office equipment.
