Position: Medical Appeals Coordinator - CPC Coder (Remote)

Type: Contract to Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Appeals Coordinator - CPC Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for abstracting and coding clinical data, auditing medical records for compliance, reviewing denials, and ensuring accurate billing corrections. This is a remote position with the opportunity for contract-to-hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Abstract and code clinical data accurately.
• Audit medical records to ensure compliance with coding procedures and standards.
• Enter and validate coded data in the system.
• Research and document correct coding practices, sharing findings with the team.
• Review denials and recommend appropriate billing corrections.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent medical coding experience.
• Certification: Must hold a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from recognized organizations such as the AAPC or AHIMA .
• Medical Billing & Coding Knowledge: Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy skills to ensure compliance and avoid billing errors.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the No Surprises Act and its implications for billing practices is preferred.

Education Requirements:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
