POSITION DESCRIPTION
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CLINICAL FACULTY APPOINTMENT
Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma
SUMMARY: The selected faculty member will report to the Chairman of the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, and hold a rank of Assistant Professor, based on prior level of experience and academic accomplishments. The selected faculty will provide clinical care to patients, manage care teams for both inpatient and outpatient settings, and provide a teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in the specialties of Lymphoma/Myeloma. He/she will independently design, execute, and conduct a broad range of research projects in his/her respective field with a focus on translational and clinical studies.

Administration (3%) Serves on institutional and hospital committees and attends appropriate meetings
Additional opportunities may be available to coordinate the lymphoma/myeloma clinical research infrastructure
Education/Teaching (5%) Attends, participates, and leads Department teachings and continuing education conferences
Represents the Department in local, regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of Lymphoma/Myeloma oncology
Patient Care (72%) Practices clinical medicine in an exemplary manner
Develops and maintains a clinical practice for patients referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center
Manages patient-care provider teams
Research (20%) Actively engages in clinical research and scholarly activity
Develops programs of clinical research and scholarly activities
Service (1%) Includes internal activities within MD Anderson and external services activities
Qualifications Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission
Licensed to practice in Texas, Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline)
At least 5 years’ experience post-degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist, or GME trainee
